 | | | HOTEL ADLER - high level hospitality for centuriesArcheological findings from the Iron Age show that around 500 BC people settled where ADLER is located today. The first documented mention of "Urtisei-Moritzen" is from 1288, this later became the ADLER and is the origin of the town's name. A small inn named "Mauriz" opened around 1500. In 1810, Joseph Anton Sanoner, originally from Selva and a trader in Paris, purchased the inn and changed the name to ADLER. Since then, the historical birth-year of the ADLER, it has been managed and run by the well-established Val Gardena family Sononer. It is currently in the seventh generation. At the beginning of the last century, Hotel ADLER had already been established as one of the most famous hotels in teh Alpine region. Various rennovations and expansions followed, the largest of which was the construction of the main building in 1926, designed by Austrian star architect Clemens Holzmeister. Further expansions followed, and the hotel increased both in size, comfort and style. Today ADLER Spa & Sport Resort is the wellness leader in the Dolomites.
